How tools work

The Claimr MCP server offers a set of tools, each one a single action such as “list quests” or “create task”. Your assistant picks the tools it needs based on your request. You don’t call tools yourself, but knowing how they behave helps you write better prompts and check the results.

Changes are saved right away

When the assistant creates, updates, or deletes something, the change is saved immediately, the same as clicking Save in the admin panel. Every change stays editable in the panel afterwards. Publishing a campaign still happens in the admin panel. See Publish campaign.

Finding your campaign

You can refer to campaigns, groups, quests, and tasks by name, slug, or ID. For example, “the Summer Launch campaign” or “the quest called Join our community” both work. A good first message tells the assistant which organization and campaign you want to work on:

I’m working on the Summer Launch campaign in the Acme organization.

The assistant remembers where you are

At the start of a conversation, the assistant creates a context with claimr_create_context. The context remembers the organization, campaign, group, quest, and task you last worked with, so follow-up requests like “now add a task to it” land in the right place without you repeating names. A context lasts seven days from its last use. A new conversation starts a new context.

Only the fields you mention change

Update tools change only the fields the assistant passes. If you ask to change a quest’s name, its image, tasks, and settings stay as they are. A few tools replace a whole list rather than merging it, for example the conditions of a segment, the answer options of a form question, or the brackets of a prize pool. The assistant sends the full list in those cases.

Deleting is careful by default

Deletes are designed to keep related content safe:

• Deleting a group keeps its quests in the campaign, unattached.
• Deleting a quest keeps its tasks in the campaign.
• A form can’t be deleted while a task still uses it.
• An image can’t be deleted while a quest, task, tier, team, item, pre-quest, or the campaign still uses it.
• A running tournament has to be ended before it can be deleted.

Task data is checked

When the assistant creates or updates a task, Claimr checks the task’s settings and returns a list of issues it couldn’t resolve, for example an X account that doesn’t exist. The task is still saved, so ask the assistant to show you any issues and fix them before you publish.

Images

Tools that take an image, such as a campaign, quest, or task image, accept a public image link or an image the assistant generates. Claimr re-hosts the image on its own CDN, so the original link doesn’t need to stay online.

Descriptions

Long descriptions of campaigns, groups, quests, tasks, tournaments, and completion pop-ups are written as plain text. A blank line starts a new paragraph. Writing a new description replaces any formatting, images, or links the old one had, so add those back in the panel if you need them. Writing a completion pop-up description also turns that pop-up on.

Permissions
